Complete Design & Build is a residential design and construction company based in Googong, just outside Canberra. Simply put, we collaborate with you to design your home, and then we build it, removing the stress of juggling multiple ego’s and budget blow outs. The same team carries the project from the first conversation through to handover, so nothing is lost in the gap between the drawings and the site.

What a custom build with us includes

Every CDAB project is shaped by its site, its owners and the way it is meant to be lived in, so no two briefs produce the same house. What stays constant is what we take responsibility for:

  • Design and documentation. Early concepts through to the drawings and details your build is actually constructed from.
  • Development and building approvals. We prepare the regulatory documentation required for submission and navigate the compliance process for you.
  • Itemised, transparent pricing. A quote that shows where the money goes, highlights potential savings, and does not surprise you later.
  • A managed construction programme. A Gantt chart setting out the build sequence and critical path, so the schedule is a plan rather than a hope.
  • Interior coordination. Finishes, joinery, lighting and fixtures chosen as part of the build rather than bolted on at the end.

How the process works

Our build process runs in seven stages:

  1. Free consultation. We start by understanding what you want from the home, from style through to energy efficiency.
  2. Preliminary Agreement. We issue a scope and subsiquent preliminary agreement.
  3. Home design. Concepts are developed against your site, your brief and your budget.
  4. Budget and timeline management. Costs and programme are set out in detail before work starts.
  5. Compliance. We prepare and manage the approval documentation.
  6. Project management. Trades, materials and inspections are coordinated and kept on programme.
  7. Construction. The build is delivered with on-site control and regular communication.
  8. Completion. Handover, with the home finished and ready to live in.

Working with an architect

We do not have an in-house architect. Instead we collaborate with a network of skilled architects who can bring your specific vision to life while keeping a sense of practicality to the project, which lets us match you with the right architect for your particular build rather than routing every job through the same person.

If you already have an architect, we are happy to work with them. If you do not, we can help you find one. Either way builder imput at the beginning is a ‘no brainer’. Not only does it save a large amount of time, It also keeps the design within a framed budget.  It is far easier to resolve a design issue before approvals and plans are finalised.
