RENOVATIONS
Home Renovations in Canberra
Upgrade your space with renovations tailored to your needs and budget. Whether it is a single room or a full-home remodel, we improve both style and functionality while maintaining the same standards we hold on a new build.
Because we design and construct in the same office, a renovation is priced and programmed by the people who will actually carry it out. That matters more on a renovation than on a new build: existing structures hold surprises, the team that approves the design, is the team best placed to resolve them on site.
What we take on
We regularly take on structural renovations throughout Canberra (ACT), Googong and the surrounding regional areas, including:
- Kitchen renovations
- Bathroom and ensuite renovations
- Full-home remodels and reconfigurations
- Structural alterations and layout changes
- Oudoor and landscape packages
How a renovation runs
A renovation follows the same disciplined sequence as our new builds, scaled to the job. We start with a consultation on site, work up a design against the existing structure, set out an itemised cost and a programme, prepare any approval documentation the work requires, then manage the trades through to completion.
The parts of your home that are not being worked on still have to be liveable, so sequencing and site control carry more weight here than they do on an empty block. Which rooms come offline, when the wet areas are out of action, and how long the kitchen is gone for are all decided in the programme rather than negotiated week to week on site.
Working with what is already there
The difference between a renovation and a new build is that most of the important decisions have already been made by somebody else. Existing structure, service runs, floor levels and the age of the original construction all constrain what is sensible, and some of that is only fully known once linings come off.
We deal with that by designing against the building as it actually is, pricing the work in itemised form so you can see which elements carry the uncertainty, and raising anything we uncover as soon as we find it rather than at the end. A defect or a surprise is easier for everyone when it arrives with a proposed fix attached.
Renovation costs
We tailor every proposal individually, because the cost of a renovation depends on your design and your choice of finishes. Rather than quote a rate per square metre, we set out an itemised quote showing where the money goes and where there is room to save, and we hold to honest, transparent pricing guides from early design through to finalised documentation.
QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
What kind of renovation projects does Complete Design and Build specialise in?
We specialise in renovations that change how a home works, not just how it looks. That includes kitchens, bathrooms and ensuites, walk-in robes and joinery, and full-home remodels involving structural alterations and layout changes.
How long does it take to renovate a home?
Renovation timeframes depend entirely on scope. A single-room renovation and a full-home remodel involving structural change are very different projects, so we set out the programme for your specific job as part of the quote rather than quoting a general figure.
Can we stay in the house while the work happens?
That depends on the scope and which parts of the home are affected. It is one of the first things we work through with you, because it changes how the job is sequenced and how long it takes. We would rather set that expectation accurately at quote stage than have you find out mid-build.
